The Group Technology Management will be a central knowledge hub within the Damen Group. The Damen Research, Development and Innovation Department is seeking a bCombustion propulsion Engineer /b for the bGroup Technology Management New Energy team. /b /p h3THE ROLE /h3 pThe New Energy team is new to Damen RDI and currently in the forming phase. You will be part of a small and growing diverse and multidisciplinary team of eventually 4-6 propulsion engineers, specialists in their field of expertise. In consultation with other engineers, you will provide expert technical advice related to combustion propulsion system, running on methanol, biodiesel, lng, etc.,, based on proven solutions and the use of Best Practices and standards. A combustion propulsion engineer is eager to understand, prevent and solve complex problems and is naturally curious to learn new ways of working. As such, you will collaborate with DP colleagues, supporting the implementation of the correct propulsion system in ship designs while ensuring the proper application of fundamental principles of relevant technologies. You can be asked to be participating in project teams in the operational phase, from Basic Engineering up to Commissioning and testing, to ensure that the right solution is implemented, based on available knowledge within the organization and based on Best Practices and standards that are applicable. In addition to the above mentioned activities, you will initiate promoting proven solutions to standards that can be used within the Damen Group. Close collaboration with relevant stakeholders within and outside the Damen group, such as Design Proposal, Engineering, Services, Production, and Damen Clients and suppliers, is part of your daily work. /p h3KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES /h3 pIn the role of combustion Propulsion Engineer, you will apply your knowledge of combustion systems to provide insights and contribute to the further development of Damen's product range. In this role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the implementation of suitable combustion propulsion engineering principles in ship designs. /p pYou will offer consultative technical advice to business units, guiding them on product functionality, performance, and quality related to combustion propulsion systems and the integration thereof on board. /p pYou will have the responsibility to intensively document your knowledge and experience in Best Practice information and add this to the knowledge database. /p pWithin the Damen organisation it’s important to have good communication skills in order to build a network. Stakeholdermanagement is an important part of this function. /p pThese responsibilities highlight how important your role is in advancing Damen's technological push and pull, contributing to the dynamic and forward-thinking attitude of the Research Development Department. /p h3SKILLS EXPERIENCE /h3 pTo excel in the role of Combustion Propulsion Engineer and to fit our team of professionals you preferably possess: /p ul liMinimal a HBO degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience; /li liKnowledge and experience of combustion systems and the usage of methanol, biodiesel or other alternatives for regular Diesel; A basic understanding of (MB)SE principles to support the ability to design and implement combustion propulsion systems for ships; /li liThe ability to collaborate effectively with specialists from diverse fields, including mechanics, hydromechanics, and data science; /li liThe ability to translate executed solutions and experiences into “Best Practices” for usage in (near) future. /li liThe ability to judge requirements and specifications to outsource the propulsion systems and to assess and judge the delivery of the supplier; /li liAn independent and flexible attitude; /li liCommunicative; /li liPro-active attitude;A high level of proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing. /li /ul pThese qualifications will not only ensure success in providing expert technical advice but also contribute to the collaborative and innovative culture within Damen's Research Development Department. /p h3WHAT WE OFFER /h3 pAt Damen, we realize the importance of supporting and managing talented people.
